Science Week- balloon and tin can experiment 🔋🔌🎈
When you rub the balloon through your hair, invisible electrons (with a negative charge) build up on the surface of the balloon. This is called static electricity, which means “non-moving electricity” The electrons have the power to pull very light objects (with a positive charge) toward them – like we have done with the can.
Try this at home and see what you can pull along!! 🔌🔋

Fill the rest of the jar with water. …
Add a few drops of food coloring; your choice of color. …
Break an alka-seltzer tablet into a few small pieces, and drop them in the flask one at a time.

Science Week- pepper, water and soap

Science experiment – rain cloud experiment 🌨🌦
Shaving foam rain clouds
– Filled jar 2/3 full with water, squirt shaving foam on top of water so it floats
– Used red and yellow food colouring to drip on top of shaving foam
– Colouring dropped through the foam and into the water looking like red and yellow rain drops

Science Week – bouncy egg and flower experiment 💐🥚
Bouncy egg experiment- 🥚🥚Leave the egg in a glass ful of white vinegar for 1-3 days… Remove the egg from the glass and rinse it under some tap water. While rinsing the egg gently rub the outside of the egg and the white film will come off leaving you will a translucent egg. Examine the egg- You’ll notice that is feels rubbery (like a bouncy ball) because the membrane has dissolved. Get bouncing!!!
Colour changing flower experiment. 💐💐
Cut some flowers and place them in a jar or cup of water with some food colouring. The cut flowers take up water through their stem and the water moves from the stem to the flowers and leaves. Water travels up tiny tubes in the plant by a process called Capillary Action. We’re waiting to see what our flowers turn out to look like 🌈
