People In The Community. We have had a brilliant time having lots of visitors in to visit Fusion.

IRISH DANCER – 13/01/16-

As part of our dance around the world week at Fusion- we had Emma, an Irish dance teacher come in and give us a taster session today.

Here is some info on when the classes meet. The first session is free so children and you can ‘try before you buy’.

Saman form Pro-Action came in to teach us Bollywood and Banga dancing 02/12/15- see our facebook page for the videos of us dancing. She also talked to us about her culture and brought some props in to show us.

SCOTLAND – 30/11/15

As part of our Scotland Week one of our parents Scottish parents came in and gave us a talk about Scotland. She also brought in some books for us to read.

KARATE – 05/11/15

We had Simon Marchant-Jones a karate instructor come in today. See November newsletter for more information. Here we are in action in our first session. We have another 4 sessions and we may reach black belt!

Simon from Harpenden JKA karate club was such a hit in the Autumn term that we decided that we would love him to come and do some sessions with the Infants. Have a look at our Facebook page and see Fusion’s karate skills.

SOUTH AFRICA VISITOR – 23/10/15

A ginormous thank you to Lara and her mum for coming in and giving us a presentation about South Africa. We had a presentation and we learnt about food, culture, animals, watched a drumming/dancing video, taught us some South African language, and she bought some South African biscuits in for us to try! Thank you for giving up your time and coming in to speak to us. Best of luck in the rugby!

FRENCH VISITOR – 30/09/15

A big thank you to Mathilde, one of our lovely parents who came in and talked to us about France. We learnt about local produce, French books, games and even got a yummy slice of homemade brioche. We think the favourite question was ” do you drink a lot of wine?”. Thank you for giving up your time to speak to us.

ITALIAN VISITOR – 21/09/15

Italian week has kicked off with a bang! Singing, dancing, speaking Italian, listening to talks, playing Italian games, read Italian books, counting in Italian and looking at pictures. A big thank you to Jo and her Italian friend.

SUBLIME SLIME – 29/06/15

We had sublime science come in today. We watched loads of cool experiments and even made our own sherbet and slime and snot! I think our parents enjoyed it as much as the children and staff!

GENERAL MOTORS  – 02/04/15

We had Helen from GM come in day. Children listened to a talk, did a quiz, watched a video from the Vauxhall factory in Luton about how a van is made and then made their own vans in their production line, with each person having a different job in order to create the van.

We learnt alot- did you know, it only take 3 hours to make a van! Here are our Fusion vans that we produced from our Fusion factory.Thank you Helen!

NINE LIVES VET – 03/02/15

Thank you to Nine Lives Vets for coming in to speak to us. We loved all the equipment they showed us and loved having a cuddle with the guinea pigs. Thank you again for giving up your time. Hope you liked the thank you card.

We had a visit from one of our lovely parents who is a research nurse. We learnt all about her job and how important the research is that she does into helping patients. Thank you for coming in, and thank you for answering all of our questions!

CAFE OWNER – 28/01/15

We had a lovely visit from Matt and Izzie from Jay’s Deli in Southdown, who came in and spoke about their business and how it fits into our community. It was very informative and we learnt about coffee, cakes and cheese. We were even lucky enough to have some delicious lemon drizzle cake and chocolate brownies that Matt baked for us. He wouldn’t tell us his baking secrets, but they were DELICIOUS- the BEST EVER!

SOUTHDOWN VISIT – 26/01/15

We went on a trip into Southdown and had a look at all the different shops in our community and did a survey. When we got back, we made a map of Southdown and labelled all the shops. Whilst on our trip we even used the phone box to phone Fusion to ask if our dinner was ready and spoke about why we would and how we use a phone box. We then went to the charity shop and bought a few things for club-some items even fitted in with our topic- all for £3

PHYSIOTHERAPIST – 19/01/15

Thank you to our parent physiotherapist who came in today to speak to the children about her job. They loved their exercises and were great at balancing. They really enjoyed listening to each other’s hearts and lungs with the telescope- also known as the stethoscope.

PILOT – 15/01/15

As part of our topic of ‘People in our Community’, a we had one of our lovely parents in to talk to us about her clever and hard job as a pilot. She spoke to us about her; duties, uniform, planes in general, answered hundreds of questions, inspired us and took us on a flight (pretend). The flight was very bumpy but we all earnt our wings! We did some quizzes after, sorting activities and colouring. We also made paper aeroplanes.

We had St Albans fire station come to Fusion today, it was lots of fun and all the children had a go in the Fire engine- some even had a go at firing the hose! Heres Anna dressed up as a firelady.

We had Cheryl and her dogs, Ellie and Phoebe come and visit us at Fusion. The dogs even danced!

Lights…Camera…Action

We had three Film and Television students in from Hertfordshire University to make a documentary about eSafety and cyber bullying.

The children were very professional and thoroughly enjoyed being behind the camera.

FITNESS COACH – 18/11/14

Lucy, is our new fitness coach. She comes every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and does different sport with the children. Yoga, circuits, Pilates, Ball skills and lots more.

PETS AT THERAPY – 17/11/14

We had Jane and her black Labrador, Freddie from Pets As Therapy come and visit us. Jane explained how Freddie visits lots of people and provides this provides them with therapy. The children listened beautifully, asked Jane lots of questions and then had lots of cuddles from Freddie.

Sandi came into Fusion and taught the children a zumba dance, we had lots of fun and were dancing all afternoon long…

BLIND DOG – 17/10/14

Jackie and Tapper, a hearing dog, came in and spoke to the children about their job and how they help and offer support to deaf people. The children asked Jackie questions, stroked and cuddled Tapper and Tapper was having such a great time, she did not want to go home.

We had a Lollipop lady come to Fusion to speak to us about road safety and the dangers of crossing roads. We made lots of art and crafts in line with this.

We had a Nurse come and visit us today, she taught us how to look after a patient and bandage up a broken arm!
