Remembrance Day Activities.
Did you know- The purple poppy is often worn to remember animals that have been victims of war. Animals like horses, dogs and pigeons were often drafted into the war effort, and those that wear the purple poppy feel their service should be seen as equal to that of human service.
AROUND THE WORLD FOOD

Around The World Topic.
The children made a traditional Bangladeshi PaKora mix with Shaheda.
They used a sharp knife to chop onions and potatoes and coriander and mixed it together with spices and gram flour.
The children were very surprised Shaheda didn’t have a recipe to follow as she has cooked dishes like this all her life!
We are having the pakora’s for dinner today to go with our curry- yum yum!

SCIENCE WEEK
09/03/23
Science week at Fusion
Dancing sugar experiment – sound waves hitting the rubber cause it to vibrate which make the sugar granules move up and down. The louder the sound, the greater the vibration and the more they dance!
Spaghetti tower building- we experiments with different resources to make the structure such as pipe cleaners, sticks, spaghetti. This challenge links design and technology, mathematics and science as children use problem-solving strategies and knowledge of two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes to build their towers.
09/03/23
Science week at Fusion
Fizzy lemon- The sodium bicarbonate of the baking soda reacts with the citric acid in lemon juice to form carbon dioxide gas. The gas bubbles are trapped by the dishwashing soap, forming fizzy bubbles.
Fireworks in a jar – this was cool to watch, we used oil, water, food colouring.
It’s to do with the density of each liquid. The food colouring will dissolve into the water, but the oil won’t. By mixing the oil and food colouring together first, you slow the mixing process that would normally happen with the water and the food colouring. The food colouring drops down into the water (because it is denser than the oil) while the oil stays on top of the water (water is also denser than oil). When the food colouring eventually starts to mix with the water, it creates a tiny explosion, like a firework.

World Turtle Day
Did you know turtles cry
I had a little turtle
His name was Tiny Tim
I put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim
He drank up all the water
And ate a bar of soap
And now he’s in his bed
With bubbles in his throat
Bubble, bubble, bubble
Bubble, bubble, bubble
Bubble, bubble, bubble
Bubble, bubble, pop!
