Diwali

Happy Diwali to those who celebrate. We celebrated the Hindu festival of light by colouring with bright colours and making Rangoli patterns out of rice! The children decorated their own hands to symbolise what Hindus do during the celebration.

Did you know…. The art the children did was called ‘Mehndi’ which is a form of body art and temporary skin decoration originating in ancient India, in which decorative designs are created on a person’s body, using a paste, created from the powdered dry leaves of the henna plant!
We learnt the story of Sita and Rama and made Diva lamps using salt dough and decorated our hands which is called Mehndi which is normally from powdered dry leaves of the henna plant
