It’s art month at Fusion during January! We have a few local artists joining us throughout January.

JOAN MIRO

09/01/18 – 11/01/18

Today we learnt all about the Spanish artist Joan Miro. We did lots of different activities during breakfast and after school club. We created our own Miro inspired pictures, transformed scribbles into masterpieces and used stencils to print. 🎨🏆

Today we had a word search competition and a scribble creation competition. Louisa won the very hard Spanish word search and Oliver, Youri and Olivia won the scribble competition. Well done 🏆🎨

KATE BUCHANAN

We very lucky today, we had Kate Buchanan, a local artist who came in and taught some of the juniors how to paint feathers using water colours. We then used a special pen and created our own masterpieces! Thank you so much Kate, we can’t wait to have you back and learn more from you! 🎨

NIGEL PARKINSON

We are looking at Nigel Parkinson the Beano Cartoonist today and tomorrow.
We have played various games, watched an episode of Beano, had a quiz, made jigsaw magazine covers and made our own storyboards.

ARCIMBOLDO

16/01/18

Today we learnt all about the Italian artist, Arcimboldo. He was famous for painting portraits using fruits, veg and natural resources to create faces. We played an Arcimboldo themed runner bean game where we tried to act out different vegetable. We also used fruit to print faces as well as drawing our friends in the style of Arcimboldo. 🍏🍌🍉🍇🍓🍋🌽🥕🍅🍆🌶

We are looking at Banksy today- we did some wall and floor printing and then made our own designs.

We were lucky to have the wondering Aimi in to talk to us about been a Graffitti Artist which linked into today’s artist of Banksy . Aimi spoke to us about all the community projects she does, all her Muriel paintings and even taught us how to Graffitti on our very own wall. Thank you so much to the talented Aimi.

JO WOOD

As part of our artist month, we were very lucky to have Jo Wood, a local artist come in. Jo’s inspiration comes from the beach and sea as you can see from her incredible work.
Jo spoke to us about her life as an artist, her jobs, showed us sketches, some objects that have inspired her, some paintings, some silk scarves she created and even a piece of driftwood that she turned into a fish.
Jo is very passionate about beach cleans and about the importance of recycling plastics as they have detrimental affects on the beach/ocean and it’s creatures. Jo created the fish from driftwood and plastic objects that have been found at the beach and although it looks pretty, plastics have to be recycled instead of been dumped at the beach.
Thank you so much Jo for taking the time to come and speak to us. We think you are very talented and are looking forward to seeing you at Fusion again soon. ♻🎨🌊🏖🐠🌎

GLYNN

We had the wonderful Glyn from Fantastic Faces visit to speak to us today, to end our topic of artists. Firstly she came to speak to us about the wonderful charity she volunteers at called Supershoes. Supershoes empowers children fighting cancer in the UK, enhancing physical & emotional wellbeing while raising awareness along the way. The children give the artists a brief and the artists design a pair of converse for them.
Have a look at the ones Glyn has done- amazing!
We are hoping to fundraise soon for this charity so we can put some smiles on children’s faces.
